    Recording Radio

    Q. I can't seem to record the radio, what can I do?
    A. Try the following:
    • Select 'Empty Cache…' from the PandoraJam menu, wait a few seconds, and then restart the application.
    • Check the PandodraJam playlist in iTunes to see if any radio recordings have been made recently.
    • Don't have Pandora.com open in another application e.g. browser, at the same time as PandoraJam
    • Make sure you are running the latest stable version of Adobe Flash
    • Install Growl - if you don't see any notifications related to the track currently being played, restart PandoraJam
    • Restart your Mac
    Q. What is the sound quality of radio recordings?
    A. Pandora.com broadcasts radio for free at 64kbps using the HE-AAC encoding method.  Pandora.com offers better quality audio when you pay a small fee to upgrade to their Pandora One service, which streams audio at 192kbps MP3. This is excellent quality and it is recommended you upgrade.  PandoraJam supports both the free and Pandora One service.

    Q. Where are radio recordings saved?
    A. By default, radio recordings are saved in the PandoraJam folder in your Music folder. You can change this in Preferences.

    Q. When are radio recordings created?
    A. Radio recordings are saved shortly after a song finishes playing.

    Q. Are radio recordings added to iTunes automatically?
    A. Radio recordings are saved and then added to the PandoraJam playlist in iTunes. Depending upon your iTunes settings, iTunes may or may not make a copy of the radio recording when it is added to the PandoraJam playlist.

    Q. How can I avoid duplicate radio recordings?
    A. In Preferences, check and adjust the options regarding duplicate recordings and adding recordings to iTunes.  Often, duplicates turn out not to be duplicates, but instead the 'Live' or 'Exclusive' version of a radio track, so check the radio recording track info in iTunes.

    Q. How can I be notified of radio recordings?
    A. If you use Growl, you'll see visual notifications about whether a recording has been made successfully, or if it has been skipped because you already have the recording in your iTunes Library, or an existing PandoraJam playlist.

    Q. I can't find any radio recordings. Have they disappeared?
    A. Check that the download folder specified in the PandoraJam Preferences  actually exists and has not been renamed or deleted.  Normally, the folder is titled PandoraJam and is in your Music folder.  Please make sure that the download folder is not a subfolder inside the iTunes Music Library folder, as that is only for the exclusive use of iTunes and directly placing files will result in unknown behaviour.
